I'm sure most of you have heard by now, about the shooting on the army base in Texas where a dozen were killed and over 2 dozen wounded. The shooter was both an American army officer (Major) and Muslim, not to mention that he was apparently a psychiatrist as well. Allegedly, he had been spouting off how the war in the middle east was wrong and how he had issues with killing his own brethren. The military apparently promoted him to Major if he would stay in the army, which he did.

So what are your views on this scenario? Forget about your views on whether we should be at war in Iraq, Afghanistan, and more than likely Iran if things keep going the way they are, just your views about an American Military Muslim shooting American military personnel on a military base because he didn't want to be shipped out to fight against his own religious brethren.

I believe what you have here is a double edged sword, on one hand you have to give the Army some blame for this as they promoted this guy even though they knew of his beliefs, they should have seen the potential time-bomb that was ticking inside of this guy.

On the other hand this guy could have also turned down the promotion and left the army and served a much better cause as a protester as a civilian, a shooting rampage does nothing more than serve millions of ignorant Americans, whom already have a racist view about Muslims with another little nugget that they'll try to pass off as a truth that all Muslims are bad, he hurt his people more by committing this act against his fellow Americans.

*nods* I am in agreement with you, Watari, on both accounts! Now, as for the firing squad, it would seem apropos given the crime. The question is, what punishment should the military receive for their stupidity?
