What are your opinions concerning the wars that are going on in Iraq and Afghanistan?

>.> They're pointless. I say they have nothing better to do than to beat up devleoping countries. The WTO is pointless too. It consists of 75% devleoped countires and they "claim" they are helping the developing countries. Because of that they make some of the developing ones go through unnecessary economy disasters.

Re: War?
I think that those wars are pretty much pointless. The people are fighting about things that don't really concern them. They are fighting because of some problems that were present many generations ago and should be forgotten a long time ago. But some people just can't understand that. I hope that they will stop the war sometime soon.

hmm...I think we have a purpose, to get rid of Al Q-somethin, i cant spell it, and they are the ones causing problems, not everyone else. Im not defending Bush, he is a bad president, but we have a purpose.

Re: War?
If everyone would be more like Shikamaru and just give up, there wouldn't ever be any wars. But alas, welcome to life.
I don't trust anything that I hear or see from the media. I don't trust anything about the US government. I cannot honestly say what our troops are doing and what is actually being done. But I do believe that we stick our noses in where it does not belong, way too often.
I know this is going to sound very unpatriotic and probably tick some people off, but September 11, 2001 was one of those days that I just sat there and questioned what took them so long. The United States is viewed as an arrogant, self-centered, self-serving nation. And why wouldn't it be? Look at the people that have been elected into office - for the people, BY the people, and of the people. They represent us, and they are making us look like this.
That day was the best thing that ever happened to Americans ONLY in the way of waking people up and actually bridging the gap between the races, genders, and ages of ALL people in the US (excluding Muslims, of course). And in less than 2 months, the entire country was back at each others throats again.
As for the "War on Terror", it would have been simple to resolve. You know where they are.. basically.. so just bomb the hell out of the place and leave. There, problem solved. However, we have our own terrorists walking our streets and murdering, raping, robbing, and other stupid things to our own citizens every day. Are these too, not considered terrorists? How can we judge one faction of people that just happened to be able to take out 3,000 people in one day and not judge all those that take out over 10,000 in a year? Just because it was a massive amount of death caused by the hands of murderers all at once, doesn't mean they caused any more havic than what our own citizens cause.. just over a longer span of time.
Life is one big war. You fight for what you believe in, or give up. The only difference in the types of wars are our words, our weapons, and our stamina.

Re: War?
Wow, Ky something I can honestly say I agree on you with (I know we agree on plenty but this is something I have touted for years and I have had no one that could agree with me on this one) September 11th is what America needed but unfortunately never learned from. It is sad indeed that all those people lost their lives in such a short period of time but on the same token we have touted ourselves so high and mighty that it was only a matter of time before someone or something came after us.
What I found to be ironic is that after every major event we always turn to a whole race or religion to blame. Look what happened after the bombing in Pearl Harbor, after that we started to gather up all the Japanese in America and put them in "camps". We did the same thing after Sept 11th, Muslims are now branded as terrorist, people now have 4 hour waiting lines at the airport due to "watch list" that they have for suspected terrorist names, I mean it's rediculous we're doing the same things we did back then only in a different fashion.
The war on Terror is just a facade, it's a front that the US put up there to protect their oil interest in the Middle East, they want to control the oil exports out of there and the want to get rid of those that are in the way basically. I'm not a big supporter of that war, I honestly believe we should pull out once and for good and turn our attention where it is most needed, on our home land, we have more going on over here and we don't need to concern ourselves with foreign land.

Re: War?
I don't think the initial U.S. attack on Afghanistan was all about the oil, but I do believe that going into Iraq was. Well, oil and drugs. As for pulling out the troops, I do believe that we stayed too long, but after the last time we bombed Iraq, the people of Iraq were rather upset that the Americans came in, destroyed their homes, and left. Sure, that's what is called casualties of war, but if we are the humanitarian nation that we spout ourselves as being, then just pulling the troops out in one fail swoop is also not the answer. We shouldn't have gone in, but since we did, we need to finish what we started. Just my opinion.
Now, almost a year after this thread was started, we're heading back into Afghanistan full force, again. Let's see what develops... or at least what the media tells us is developing.
